Client desk

One page that gathers your works, bookings, documents, links, posts and the work we have in progress for you.

The client desk, at desk.artgrp.au, is the one page that pulls everything Artefact is doing for you into a single view. If the desk is switched on for your account it also sits at the top of the tools launcher as a full-width panel, above the individual tools that feed it.

Open the desk first. The tools underneath it are where the detail lives, but the desk is the answer to "where are we up to".

What is on it

The desk is built from panels, each one reading from the system that owns that information:

PanelWhat it shows
Worksthe jobs we are running for you
Taskswhat is assigned, and to whom
Commercialsquotes and invoices, with overdue ones marked
Documentsthe real files, from the Drive folder for your account
Bookingscrew and equipment booked against your jobs
Linksyour short links and their traffic
Postsscheduled and published social posts
Reviewsdesigns waiting on your sign-off in Critique
Telemetrymonitors, where you have devices reporting

Below the panels is the work table — the engineering work we have in progress for you. It shows a title, a stage and dates, nothing else. If a line there does not make sense, it is our fault for writing a poor title: tell us and we will fix the wording.

Why a panel can look empty

An empty panel and a broken one are not the same thing, and the desk is careful to tell them apart. The state is shown on the panel itself.

It saysIt meansWhat you should do
everything looks normalthe system answered. Empty really is emptynothing
Not connectedwe have not wired that system to your account yettell us — it is our side
Unavailablethe system failed or timed out just nowtry again later
No record foundthe system has no account for you yetnothing — we are on it. Retrying will not help
No accessyou have not been granted the app behind that panelask for access

The difference between Unavailable and No record found is the one worth knowing. "Unavailable" is worth a retry. "No record found" never is — it means a step on our side has not been done, and only we can do it.

Every app is shown, including the ones you cannot open

The desk lists everything Artefact runs, not only what is switched on for you. Anything you cannot open yet is greyed out rather than hidden, with a line saying why and a Request access button that reaches us.

A greyed tile is deliberately not a link. Following one would bounce you into a sign-in you cannot complete, which looks like a broken site rather than a missing permission.

Some products are greyed because they hold their own sign-in and their own list of organisations, separate from this platform. CrowdSense and AdmitMe both work that way. Being granted one here does not by itself create your account over there — if a tile stays greyed after we have said yes, that is the reason, and it is on us to finish.

If you are Artefact staff

Your own desk is at the same address and takes no account identifier, on purpose — that is what stops anyone loading a desk that is not theirs. Opening a client's desk is a separate, staff-gated route, reached from the company dashboard rather than by editing a URL.

Follow-ups are staff-only and never appear on a client's desk. They span every client by nature, so they are not something that can be shown to one.

Something looks wrong

Tell us what the panel said, in its own words — "Bookings says no record found" is enough to tell us exactly which step was missed. The desk is designed so that the message on the panel identifies the fix, which means a screenshot or the sentence itself saves a round of questions.
