Producers, clients, and anyone reviewing a design
Critique
Pin comments on a design, work through them to sign-off, and export the feedback.
Critique is where a design gets reviewed. Instead of a long email thread trying to describe "the logo, a bit up and to the left," reviewers click directly on the design and leave a comment right there — the designer sees exactly what was meant, and everyone works off one shared link instead of a scattered inbox.
Three kinds of project
Critique reviews three different kinds of thing, so you're not forcing a website into a tool built for static images or the other way round:
- A ZIP file — upload a static HTML/CSS/JS site (assets included) and
Critique hosts it for review, exactly as it would look live.
- Image mockups — upload screens for Desktop, Tablet, and Mobile
separately, for work that isn't a working site yet.
- A live website — give Critique a URL and it takes its own copy of
the page, so feedback stays put on that snapshot even if the real site changes underneath it later.
Pin comments
Click anywhere on the page or image to drop a numbered pin and leave a comment. Each pin keeps its number and its position, so a list of feedback reads as a list of specific, located points rather than vague notes. Every comment has a status — open, addressed, or won't fix — so a designer can work through a review methodically and everyone can see at a glance what's still outstanding.
Checking responsive behaviour
For image and live-website projects, switch between Desktop, Tablet, Mobile, and Full width to review how a design holds up at different sizes — without anyone needing to upload separate files for each one.
Share links that keep working
Every project has one link for sharing. For a live-website project, that link stays exactly the same even after the snapshot is refreshed to pick up the latest version of the real site — so a link you've already sent a client keeps working, rather than turning into a dead end the next time the site changes.
Approvals
Sign-off happens per page and per viewport, not just once for the whole project — useful when the mobile layout is approved but the desktop one still needs a tweak. Every approval is kept in a history, so it's always clear who signed off what, and when.
Exporting a PDF
Once a review is in a good state, export the whole feedback thread as a PDF — handy for a client who wants the sign-off in an email or a file rather than a link they have to click through.
Who needs an account
Creating, uploading, or deleting a project needs an @artefactgroup.au sign-in — that's the dashboard side, for staff running the review. Viewing a shared project, commenting, replying, and approving don't need an account at all — anyone holding the share link can do all of that. The link itself is the access control on that side, so treat it the way you'd treat any link you don't want made public.
